Drama with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has recently become unhappy with his current team, the Green Bay Packers, and told them he was not interested in returning to the team. This was caused by a variety of factors, among those being the fact that during last year’s draft, the Packers didn’t inform Rodgers when they traded up to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick.
The Packers say they will not be trading Rodgers, though, regardless of his disinterest in continuing playing for them. The San Francisco 49ers checked just in case, and were quickly shut down. The Los Angeles Rams also inquired about whether Rodgers could be traded to them in January (before they acquired their current quarterback Matthew Stafford), and were also rebuffed.
As a three-time MVP, Rodgers would be a significant loss to the team, so it’s no surprise that the Packers are going to lengths to try and keep him. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Packers have offered Rodgers a significant long-term contract extension offer. No exact figure was included in the report, but it’s possible that if this contract was accepted, Rodgers could be the highest paid quarterback in the NFL.
Even after this, though, Rodgers still wants to leave the team. This is also affecting not only Rodgers, but some teammates as well. Teammate Devante Adams has stated that if Rodgers does leave, he would have to do some serious thinking about his future. Adams has said that he is very close with Rodgers and has built up a special connection with him.
This isn’t the only big thing going on in Rodger’s class right now. In 2020, long-time Jeopardy host Alex Trebek also died. This left the position as Jeopardy host wide open. The producers have tried out some guest hosts, Rodgers being among them. Because Jeopardy only films days of the year, Rodgers could host Jeopardy and still be able to play football. Rodgers says it’s his dream to host Jeopardy one day.
Neither side is getting anywhere right now, and at this point it looks like Rodgers has already played his last game with the Packers. This situation is fastly progressing, so for quick updates ESPN is a good source.
