A New Era of Art: Social Media

Though it may seem that apps like Instagram and TikTok are merely places to post selfies and dance, they are actually huge, huge platforms for creativity and art. Creators can get famous for showing off their unique style or techniques; some being completely brand new and out of the box.
Since people have the ability to stay anonymous on these social media apps, a whole new platform of art was created. One anonymous artist, who goes by the name “Bansky”, is very popular, with a following of over 10 million people on Instagram. He is infamous for selling a piece that bid up to over a million dollars and having it self shred right after it was auctioned away. Artists like him have pulled similar stunts and also gotten popular from it. This goes to show that doing outrageous things on social media can actually get you somewhere in your career, which is why so many artists, musicians, and many others do so.
As well as using art to get popular online, some people also use it to spread love and help people. A lot of artists, especially on TikTok, make tutorials so other people can learn how to do art as well. Others create inclusive art to spread awareness about important issues or to just spread positivity.l
Whether you are a stunt artist or an inspirational one, social media is a great way to show off your work. Your art can bring a huge impact on people who you might not even know! So what are you waiting for? Go out and pull a Banksy!
